AMP Pages
In addition to standard pixel tracking, SegMetrics supports AMP Page Tracking. AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) provides fast-loading mobile experiences, and SegMetrics can track visitor behavior on these pages with proper implementation.
Setting Up AMP Tracking
In order to use AMP tracking, simply add the two following code snippets to your AMP pages.
Adding the Amp-Analytics Component
Once you have an AMP page up and running, include the amp-analytics component before the closing
<script async custom-element="amp-analytics" src="https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-analytics-0.1.js"></script>
Installing the SegMetrics Pixel
Include the following SegMetrics analytics pixel below the amp-analytics in your page, replacing YOUR_INTEGRATION_ID with your Integration Id:
<amp-analytics type="application/json" config="https://tag.segmetrics.io/analytics.amp.config.json">
<script type="application/json">
{
"vars": {
"integration": "YOUR_INTEGRATION_ID"
}
}
</script>
</amp-analytics>
Important: The amp-analytics component should be configured in the document body, not in the head section.
Using AMP Data in SegMetrics
Page View Tracking
Once your AMP tracking is implemented, SegMetrics will automatically track page views on your AMP pages:
- Basic Page Views: All AMP page visits are tracked and attributed to the appropriate traffic sources
- Mobile-Specific Insights: AMP pages are typically mobile-focused, providing clear mobile user behavior data
- Attribution Timing: Click attribution data will appear in SegMetrics within 6-8 hours depending on your plan
Mobile Performance Insights
AMP tracking provides valuable insights into your mobile user experience:
- Fast-Loading Page Performance: Track how AMP's speed improvements affect conversion rates
- Mobile Funnel Analysis: See how AMP pages perform in your conversion funnels compared to regular pages
- Cross-Device Tracking: Understand how AMP page visits connect to conversions on other devices
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where do I find my Integration ID?
A. You can find your Integration ID in your SegMetrics account under Settings. This unique identifier connects your AMP pages to your SegMetrics tracking.
Q. Can I track events on AMP pages beyond page views?
A. The basic SegMetrics AMP implementation focuses on page view tracking. For more advanced event tracking on AMP pages, you may need additional configuration depending on your specific use case.
Q. Do I need separate tracking for AMP and regular pages?
A. No, SegMetrics will automatically recognize and properly attribute both AMP and regular page visits within the same account. The data will be integrated into your existing reports and analytics.
Q. How long does it take for AMP page data to appear?
A. AMP page view data follows the same timing as other SegMetrics data - click attribution typically appears within 6-8 hours depending on your plan. Page view data may appear sooner in some reports.
Q. Is AMP still relevant in 2025?
A. While AMP is no longer required for Google's Top Stories or News features, it can still provide value for specific use cases, particularly for media sites or businesses focused on mobile page speed optimization. However, many sites now achieve similar results with modern web performance techniques and Core Web Vitals optimization.
