SegMetrics Account Settings
SegMetrics has a number of different settings to configure in your account. These include general account settings such as your company name, timezone, currently format, and others.. In this article, you’ll learn how to access those settings and get a better understanding of what each setting means.
To access and edit your account settings:
- Click the Gear icon in the upper right of your account
- Click Account Settings
- Update your account settings as needed
- Click Save
Now that you know how to access your account settings, it’s important to know what each setting is used for inside your account. Below you’ll find an explanation of each of those settings:
Company Name: Enter the name of your company. You can change the company name at any time. Your company name appears in the upper right side of your account. If you have multiple accounts, setting appropriate names helps tell your accounts apart from one another.
Account ID: The unique identifier for your account. If you have multiple accounts, each account will have its own unique ID number.
Timezone: Set the timezone for your account. You can change the timezone of your account at any time. This will change what timezone your reports are shown in, but does not change the underlying data in SegMetrics or the 3rd party integrations. Internally, all data is saved in UTC in SegMetrics.
Currency Format: Set or change the currency symbol displayed in your reports. SegMetrics does not perform currency conversions (we report on what the integrations send over to us), but it will change the symbol in front of your revenue numbers in all reports. We don’t do currency exchange because each integration has different charges on different days for their exchange rates, so it’s impossible to determine an actual exchange rate for any given day. Many users use a formula widget on their dashboards to create a calculator for calculating exchange rates.
API Key: All accounts have a unique API key that they can use for various API calls such as in configuring custom integrations or granting account access to another service. If you regenerate your account key you will need to manually update the key in any 3rd party apps you’ve connected to SegMetrics.
Share Key: This is the (optional) share key when sharing dashboards (see dashboards section). Requires enable dashboard sharing to be turned on.
Enable Dashboard Sharing: You can share your dashboard with people who don’t have an account. This is handy for when you have clients or a boss that doesn’t want to log in, but still needs to see the data. These dashboards update every 10 minutes, so they’re great for adding to kiosks or embedding right into documentation tools like Notion in order to give consistently updating dashboards to the people who need them. You can turn this on / off or change your share key at any time to invalidate all currently published dashboards.
Exclude failed invoices from revenue calculations: Some systems like Stripe and Keap create a $0 paid invoice when a purchase fails due to a credit card issue or something similar. This can throw off your numbers if you’re looking at the number of sales, etc. You can filter these out on each report, but clicking this toggle automatically removes any failed invoices from all reports so you don’t have to remember to keep doing it.
Include Deals in revenue calculations: By default, deals are kept separate from standard revenue calculations. However, some companies don’t have any revenue other than deals, so they want to have any Open or Won deals included in their revenue calculations.
Custom contact reports: Here you can choose 2 custom fields to be included in the contact ledger table along with the other data that’s displayed.
