What Happens to My Data if the Founding User Leaves My Company
Often the owner or creator of your SegMetrics account moves on from their company. You can still use SegMetrics, but what happens to your data? Can you still access it? If the original owner of the SegMetrics account leaves several things can occur…
Your data will still be there and you can still access it anytime you’d like. You may also do most of the day to day activities in SegMetrics if you have “user” credentials. However, if the original account owner was the only one with “owner” credentials you may want to make sure you or another member of your team also has such permissions. There are two ways you can do this:
1. The original owner can assign admin access to anyone who currently has a SegMetrics account before they leave.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right hand corner of any page
- Under account settings select “Team”
- Select the gear icon next to the account email that should be changed
- Select the drop down next to “role” and assign them “owner” status.
2. Or you can contact support at support@segmetrics.io and we can assign owner credentials to any account you wish.
What happens when my ads agency and I no longer work together but I’d still like to use SegMetrics?
You can absolutely still use SegMetrics.
You may want to make sure you have your own account and it has “owner” credentials. You may follow the steps above. If your ad agency was the one setting up reports and dashboards in SegMetrics, it may be a good idea for you to get on a free review call with one of our reps. They will catch you up to speed on how to operate the tool yourself. They will help you understand how the reports work and even build your own dashboards if you wish.
What happens to my data when I cancel my account?
When an account is canceled, it will be put into a 14 day grace period. During this time, all data continuously updates and flows into the account. Once the 14 days is up, the data stays in our database for 30 days. This ensures if there are billing issues like failed payments, the data isn’t wiped before billing can be resolved. Once the 30 day limit from cancellation hits, the data is removed from our database. If the account were to come back under the same email/user they would have to start over.
