Setting Up Data Monitors

Data Monitors help you stay informed about important changes in your business data. Set up automated notifications to alert you when key metrics reach specific thresholds, allowing you to quickly identify and address issues before they become critical. This article shows you how to create and manage metric alerts in SegMetrics.

Accessing Data Monitors

  1. From your SegMetrics dashboard, click on the Tools dropdown in the left menu.
  2. Select Data Monitors from the dropdown options.

You'll see a list of any existing metric alerts you've created, along with their current status.


Adding a New Metric Alert

  1. Click the Add Metric Alert button at the top of the Data Monitors page.

  1. A setup menu will slide in from the right side of the screen.
  2. Configure your alert with the following information:
    • Alert Name: Give your alert a descriptive name (e.g., "Monthly Revenue Drop Alert" or "Lead Count Below Target").
    • Metric to Monitor: Select which metric you want to track from the dropdown menu and what metrics to notify.
    • Notification Method: Choose how you want to be notified (email, in-app notification, etc.).

  1. Click Save or Create Alert to activate your new metric alert.

Tip: Set up alerts for both high and low thresholds on critical metrics. For example, create one alert if revenue drops below your target, and another if it exceeds expectations so you can analyze what's working.


Editing Existing Alerts

To modify an existing metric alert:

  1. Navigate to Tools > Data Monitors.
  2. Find the alert you want to edit in your list of metric alerts.
  3. Hover over the alert row.
  4. Click the three dots (⋮) that appear in the top right corner of the alert.

  1. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.
  2. Make your desired changes in the setup menu.
  3. Click Save to update the alert.

You can also delete or pause alerts from this same menu by selecting the appropriate option.

A. Yes. Any metric visible in your SegMetrics dashboard can be used to create an alert, including custom metrics and calculated fields you've created.

Q. Will I be notified if an alert fails to run?
