Creating Agency Dashboard Templates

Dashboard templates allow you to create standardized reporting dashboards once and deploy them across multiple client accounts instantly. Instead of rebuilding the same dashboard layout for each client, save your best-performing dashboards as templates and reuse them with a single click. This article shows you how to create, manage, and deploy dashboard templates across your agency.

Understanding Dashboard Templates

Dashboard templates are pre-configured dashboard layouts that include:

  • Widget arrangements and configurations
  • Metric selections and filters
  • Visual styling and layout preferences
  • Date range settings

Once saved as a template, you can deploy these dashboards to any client account, ensuring consistent reporting across your entire agency.

Accessing Your Dashboard Templates

  1. From your Agency dashboard, navigate to Dashboard Templates.

This page displays all dashboard templates you've created, making it easy to manage and deploy them across client accounts.

Creating a Dashboard Template

Step 1: Build Your Dashboard

  1. Navigate to a client account or your own account within SegMetrics.
  2. Go to Dashboards from the main menu.
  3. Create a new dashboard or select an existing dashboard that you want to save as a template.
  4. Configure the dashboard with all the widgets, metrics, and layout you want to replicate across accounts.

Tip: Build your template dashboard with your most valuable metrics and commonly requested reports. Consider what insights your clients need most frequently.

Step 2: Save as Template

  1. Once your dashboard is configured exactly how you want it, click the dashboard settings or options menu (typically located in the top right corner).
  2. Select Save as Template from the dropdown menu.

Deploying a Template to Client Accounts

  1. From your Agency dashboard, go to Dashboard Templates.
  2. Find the template you want to deploy in your list.
  3. Click the Copy Link button next to the template name.

  1. Navigate to the client account where you want to deploy the template.
  2. Paste the template URL directly into your browser's address bar.
  3. Press Enter to import the template into that account.

The dashboard will be automatically created in the client account with all the same widgets, metrics, and configurations as your original template.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I edit a template after it's been deployed to client accounts?

A. No, editing the original template does not automatically update dashboards already deployed to client accounts. If you need to update existing dashboards, you'll need to either manually update each one or create a new version of the template and redeploy it.

Q. Will the template use the client's actual data?

A. Yes. When you deploy a template to a client account, the dashboard widgets automatically pull data from that specific client's account. The template provides the structure and configuration, but displays each client's unique metrics and performance data.

Q. Can I share templates with other agency team members?

A. Yes. Dashboard templates are available to all users within your agency account. Any team member with appropriate permissions can access and deploy your saved templates to client accounts.

Q. What happens if a template includes metrics not available in a client account?

A. If a client account doesn't have the necessary integrations or data sources for certain widgets in your template, those widgets will display an error or "no data available" message. You can either add the required integrations to the client account or manually remove incompatible widgets after deployment.

Q. How many dashboard templates can I create?

A. There is no limit to the number of dashboard templates you can create. However, we recommend keeping your template library organized by archiving outdated versions and focusing on your most effective and frequently used dashboard layouts.
