WooCommerce
SegMetrics gives you the ability to analyze your marketing campaign performance by connecting WooCommerce with other data sources. With that information, you can easily segment that data into your leads, find the automation triggers that convert to customers, understand where your most valuable leads are coming from, and more!
SegMetrics takes the spend from your ad platforms and purchases from WooCommerce then connects them to the email addresses in your CRM. You don't need to import the orders or tag people in a special way: they just need to be in your WooCommerce and CRM!
Watch this video for a walk through on how to connect your WooCommerce account to SegMetrics or read below for a step by step.
How to connect WooCommerce to SegMetrics
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and then click "Integrations"
- Once you're on the Integrations page, select the Payments list and click on Connect next to WooCommerce
- This will open the Activation window, where you will be asked for the URL to your WooCommerce site
- Click Connect Your Account to connect to your WooCommerce account through OAuth
Once connected, SegMetrics will match the emails in WooCommerce with those in your CRM and connect the payment data automatically. If you have more than one payment processor, we recommend using whichever can act as the single source of truth.
WooCommerce as ESP/CRM Integration
WooCommerce can also function as an ESP/CRM integration in SegMetrics, but there are important limitations to consider:
Important Limitations:
- If used as a CRM, WooCommerce can only bring in contacts that are purchasing or opting in through WooCommerce itself
- This is not the ideal setup for anyone who wants to track leads and customers since it will only pull in customers who have made purchases
- WooCommerce as a CRM does not capture leads from other marketing activities or touchpoints
Automatic CRM Assignment: Sometimes if you attach the WooCommerce integration first before any other CRM, it will automatically count as your CRM connection. If this happens and you want it removed as your primary CRM, please contact our support at help@segmetrics.io.
Best Practice: We recommend using WooCommerce primarily as a revenue integration alongside a dedicated CRM/ESP tool (like ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, or Mailchimp) for comprehensive lead and customer tracking.
How to use WooCommerce data in SegMetrics Reports
Once your data is imported from WooCommerce, you can create reports with the data to see how each touchpoint influences your sales.
For Revenue Data:
- Acquisition Reports - NEW customers only
- Nurture Reports - customers who received tags/list additions
- Engagement Reports - customers who interacted with website
- Orders Reports - ALL revenue regardless of status
- Subscriptions Reports - customers who started subscriptions
Note: What SegMetrics considers a subscriber or subscription may vary slightly compared to WooCommerce's revenue source/integration.
- Go to conversions on the left navigation bar. Then click Orders.
- Select your desired filters based on dates, tags and touchpoints
- Save it for later use or to use the data in a custom dashboard
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much historical data gets pulled in when I first connect?
A: When you connect a new WooCommerce data source, all your existing data from your WooCommerce account is synced. Once connected and actively syncing, SegMetrics stores this data in its own database, allowing for accumulation of more data over time.
Q: What time zone is WooCommerce data synced in?
A: WooCommerce data is synced in UTC. SegMetrics reports on your data based on the timezone that you set in your Account Settings.
Q: Do I need the tracking pixel to get the data found in my WooCommerce account?
A: You do not need to create a Tracking Link for SegMetrics to track website purchases from WooCommerce.
Q: Why is WooCommerce automatically set as my CRM integration?
A: If you connect WooCommerce before connecting any other CRM/ESP integration, SegMetrics may automatically assign it as your primary CRM. Contact support at help@segmetrics.io if you need this changed.
Q: Can I use WooCommerce as my only CRM in SegMetrics?
A: While possible, this is not recommended. WooCommerce as a CRM can only bring in contacts who are purchasing or opting in through WooCommerce itself, meaning you'll miss leads from other marketing activities. For comprehensive tracking, use a dedicated CRM/ESP alongside WooCommerce as your revenue integration.

Want to know which marketing channels are actually bringing in your best WooCommerce customers? Connecting WooCommerce to SegMetrics takes just a few minutes - and once it's done, you'll finally be able to connect the dots between your marketing and your revenue.
First, click the gear icon in the top right and go to Integrations.
Find WooCommerce and click on it.
Enter your WordPress URL and follow the prompts to connect via oAuth - it's just a few clicks.
Once connected, SegMetrics will automatically start pulling in your historical order data in the background, including revenue and product names. No manual imports needed.
Next, you'll need to install the SegMetrics tracking pixel on your site so we can tie your marketing channels to those orders.
The easiest way to do this is with the free SegMetrics WordPress plugin.
In your WordPress admin area, go to Plugins, click Add New, and search for SegMetrics. Install and activate the SegMetrics Marketing Analytics plugin.
Then go to Settings and select SegMetrics.
You'll see two fields - your Account ID and API Key.
Grab both of those from your SegMetrics Account Settings, paste them in, and hit Save Changes.
That's it - your pixel is now live across your entire WooCommerce site, including checkout and thank you pages.
Here's where it gets exciting: head over to the Top Order Sources report and you'll see exactly which channels - your ads, emails, social posts, referrals - are driving real WooCommerce revenue. Not just clicks. Actual paying customers.
Stop guessing which marketing is working. Connect WooCommerce to SegMetrics and you'll always know exactly where your best customers are coming from.
