Connecting AWeber to SegMetrics

Integration Overview

SegMetrics takes the spend from your ad platforms and purchases from your payment processor then connects them to the email addresses in AWeber.

You don't need to import the orders or tag people in a special way: they just need to be in your AWeber account!

Setting Up the Connection

  1. Head over to your Integrations page in your SegMetrics account
  2. Once you're on the Integrations page, select the Email Marketing list and click on the AWeber integration

  1. Click Connect AWeber
  2. This will open the Activation window, which is where you will connect your AWeber account through their secure OAuth

Data Sync Details

What Data is Synced:

  • Contacts/Subscribers: All subscriber information and email addresses
  • Custom Fields: Any custom fields you've created in AWeber
  • Tags: All subscriber tags for segmentation and automation
  • Lists: All your AWeber email lists and their subscribers
  • Pipeline/Deal Data: Not available (AWeber is email marketing focused)

Historical Data Import: When you connect a new AWeber data source, all historical data from your account is synced. Data sync timing follows SegMetrics' standard schedule - click attribution typically appears within 6-8 hours depending on your plan.

> Pro Tip: Once AWeber is connected and actively syncing data, we store the data that's collected in our own database. This allows us to accumulate more data over time as more data syncs are made so that you can report on more historical AWeber data in your SegMetrics reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I set up my email links to get click rates from my AWeber emails?

A. To do this, add the ContactId to your link with seg_cid=*|UNIQID|* .

Here is what the finished link should look like: http://example.com/?seg_cid=*|UNIQID|*

That will tell SegMetrics who is visiting the page, even if they're on a different device.

You can find more information on configuring your email links in our Improving Tracking Fidelity Page.

Q. Do I need the tracking snippet to get the data found in my AWeber account?

A. You do not need to create a Tracking Link for SegMetrics to track website visitors, it will still gather the UTM data. Tracking Links provide a simple way to get further detail of exactly which link they clicked for ads, email broadcasts, or campaigns.

Q. How much historical data is synced when I first connect AWeber?

When you connect a new AWeber data source, all historical data from your account is synced. This includes all subscribers, their tags, custom fields, and list memberships. Data attribution begins working within 6-8 hours of connection.

Q. Can I track multiple AWeber accounts in SegMetrics?

A. No, you can only connect one AWeber account per SegMetrics account. If you need to track multiple AWeber accounts, you would need separate SegMetrics accounts for each one.

Q. What happens to contacts I delete in AWeber?

A. Just because you delete a contact in AWeber doesn't mean it gets deleted in SegMetrics. We retain that contact data in case the contact comes back and interacts with your websites or products in the future. This ensures continuity in your customer journey tracking and prevents loss of historical attribution data.
