EBay
In this article, you'll learn how to integrate eBay with your SegMetrics account. For this integration we'll use Zapier to automatically send your eBay orders into SegMetrics.
Requirements for This Integration
- Zapier.com account
- SegMetrics account
Connecting eBay to SegMetrics
First, we'll create the necessary connection from inside of your SegMetrics account. This process allows Zapier to send data into SegMetrics.
To create the initial connection:
- Head over to the Integrations page in your SegMetrics account
- From the list of available integrations, search for and click on eBay
- Follow the rest of the prompts
Once this part of the setup is complete, you'll notice that the eBay integration is now configured in your account. The next step is to head over to Zapier and create the necessary Zap to send eBay orders into SegMetrics.
Installing Your Zap Template
Next, we'll head over to your Zapier account and create the Zap for sending eBay data into SegMetrics. To make this as easy as possible, we've created a handy Zap template for you to install in your Zapier account.
Installing the eBay Zap Template:
- Click here to install the eBay Zap template in your Zapier account.
- Inside of the Zap Template, open up the eBay Trigger step
- Click Choose Account
- Click Sign in to eBay
- Enter your login credentials for your eBay account, or select a previously connected eBay account if you've connected in the past.
- Click on the SegMetrics Action step
- Click Choose Account
Click Sign in to SegMetrics
Use the following credentials to connect your SegMetrics account:
- a. Account ID
- b. API Key
- c. Integration ID
Now that you have your Zap template set up and ready to go, the last step is to turn on the Zap.
Turning on The Zap
To turn on your Zap:
- Toggle the setting to enable the Zap
- That's it!
Now that your Zap is enabled, all new eBay orders data will be sent into your SegMetrics account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much historical data is synced when you first connect eBay to SegMetrics?
A: eBay integration through Zapier only syncs new orders going forward from when the Zap is activated. No historical order data is imported when you first set up the integration.
Q: What happens if my Zapier account gets disconnected?
A: If your Zapier connection is interrupted, you'll need to reconnect both your eBay and SegMetrics accounts in the Zap settings. Orders processed during the disconnection period will not be automatically synced to SegMetrics.
Q: Can I customize which eBay data gets sent to SegMetrics?
A: Yes, you can modify the Zap template to include or exclude specific data fields from your eBay orders. This is done in the SegMetrics action step where you can map the specific fields you want to sync.
Q: Do I need to install the SegMetrics tracking pixel on my website?
A: Yes, you need to install the SegMetrics tracking pixel on all your web pages. The tracking pixel must be active to capture visitor data going forward and attach it to contacts. SegMetrics will never pull in historical click data - only data from when the pixel is installed.
Q: What should I do if the Zap template link doesn't work?
A: If the template link is not working, you can create a manual Zap in your Zapier account by selecting eBay as the trigger app (New Order event) and SegMetrics as the action app. Follow the same connection steps outlined in this guide.
