Use Google Sheet Data and Zapier with SegMetrics

In this article, you’ll learn how to send data held in a Google Sheet into SegMetrics by way of Zapier. This allows you to send in data you might not otherwise have stored in a directly integrated platform, and allows you to customize how you send in your data.

What you’ll need for this integration:

  • Zapier.com account
  • Google Sheets
  • SegMetrics account

Setting Up Your Google Sheet

In order to send the best possible data into SegMetrics, it’s important to first familiarize yourself with how to configure your data within your google sheet. Whether you’re sending in simple lead data information such as an email address, or something a bit more complex such as orders and purchases, you should take a moment to read up on how to best format your data file.

Once you have a clear understanding of how you should configure your sheet, move on to the next section about how to set up your zap.

The following example will show how to send new or updated leads data into SegMetrics. The example will use a Google sheet formatted in the following way:

Setting Up Your Zap

Now that you have your Google sheet formatted with data, you can set up a new zap to start sending that data into SegMetrics.

To start sending Google Sheets data into SegMetrics, configure your zap as follows:

  1. Zap Trigger:

Next, configure the following fields for the Google Sheets trigger:

Spreadsheet: Select the sheet you’ve previously created and formatted for import into SegMetrics.

Worksheet: If you have more than one worksheet within your spreadsheet, select the worksheet you’d like to trigger the zap.

Trigger Column: Generally, you’ll want to set this to any_column. This setting will trigger the zap once any of the sheet columns is updated with new data. Otherwise, if you only want to trigger via a specific column, select that column in this field.

  1. Zap Action: SegMetrics - Select the type of action to take with your data

The following examples will show how to add or update a contact in SegMetrics, but go ahead and select the action you need to take.

Once the Add or Update a Contact action is selected, map the data field headers from your sheet to the appropriate fields in the action.

Once you’ve mapped all of the required data fields, you can go ahead and run a test to make sure the data will properly import into your SegMetrics account.

As long as the data is formatted correctly, you should get a success message from Zapier:

You can then login to your SegMetrics account and search for that contact. The contact should now have a profile along with the data fields you sent in.

When satisfied with the results, go ahead and publish your zap.

Publish Your Zap

To publish your Zap:

  1. Toggle the setting to enable the Zap
  2. That’s it!

Now that your Zap is published, any updated Google spreadsheet sends the data into SegMetrics.
