WhatConverts

WhatConverts is a call tracking and lead attribution platform that helps you track phone calls, form submissions, chats, and transactions from your marketing campaigns. To integrate WhatConverts with SegMetrics, you'll need to use Zapier to send lead data through your CRM or email platform, then into SegMetrics for complete attribution tracking.

Setting Up the Integration

Since SegMetrics doesn't have a direct integration with WhatConverts, you'll need to create one or two Zaps in Zapier. The first Zap sends new leads from WhatConverts into your CRM or email platform. The second Zap sends the lead's tracking data to SegMetrics.

For best tracking results, enable dynamic phone numbers in WhatConverts. This feature assigns a unique phone number to each lead source, allowing you to track exactly where each call originated.

Step 1: Create a WhatConverts to CRM Zap

Trigger: WhatConverts - New Lead

Configure these trigger settings based on your business needs:

  • Phone Calls Completed: Yes
  • Phone Calls Modified: No
  • Phone Calls in Progress: Yes
  • Text Messages: Yes
  • WebForms: Yes
  • Profile: Select your WhatConverts profile name

Action: Create/Update Contact in Your CRM

Select your CRM or email platform (e.g., Drip, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot) from Zapier's available apps. Most platforms provide options to create or update contacts.

Map the WhatConverts data to your CRM fields, including:

  • Email address (required)
  • Dynamic phone number from WhatConverts
  • Lead source information
  • Any custom fields you want to track

Step 2: Send Tracking Data to SegMetrics

Action: SegMetrics - Track Page View

Configure this final action step:

  1. App & Event: SegMetrics
  2. Set up action:
  • URL: [WhatConverts] Lead URL (even if it shows "No data", the Zap will continue running)
  • Email: Lead's email address from your CRM platform
  • Contact ID: The contact ID from your CRM (optional if email address is provided)

Step 3: Activate Your Zap

  1. Test the Zap to ensure it's working properly
  2. Toggle the setting to enable the Zap
  3. All new WhatConverts leads and their tracking data will now flow into SegMetrics

How to Use WhatConverts Data in SegMetrics

WhatConverts functions as a lead generation tool, sending lead data through your CRM to SegMetrics. This data appears in SegMetrics reports as follows:

  • Acquisition Reports: Track newly created contacts from WhatConverts leads
  • Nurture Reports: Track contacts who received tags or list additions after converting through WhatConverts
  • Engagement Reports: Track contacts who visited pages or engaged with emails after becoming leads
  • Orders Reports: Track ALL revenue from contacts who originally came through WhatConverts
  • Subscriptions Reports: Track contacts who started subscriptions after converting through WhatConverts

The page view tracking from WhatConverts helps SegMetrics understand the complete customer journey from the initial call or form submission through to purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need both Zaps if my CRM already integrates directly with WhatConverts?

A: If WhatConverts directly integrates with your CRM or email platform, you only need the second Zap to send tracking data from your CRM to SegMetrics.

Q: What if the WhatConverts Lead URL shows "No data"?

A: The Zap will continue to run normally. Even when the Lead URL field appears empty, WhatConverts provides tracking data that SegMetrics can use for attribution.

Q: Can I track both phone calls and form submissions?

A: Yes, you can configure the WhatConverts trigger to capture phone calls, web forms, text messages, and chats based on your business communication methods.

Q: Why use dynamic phone numbers?

A: Dynamic phone numbers allow WhatConverts to assign unique phone numbers to different marketing campaigns and traffic sources, providing more accurate lead attribution data for SegMetrics.

Q: How long does it take for data to appear in SegMetrics?

A: Data typically appears in SegMetrics within a few minutes of the Zap triggering, depending on your CRM's sync frequency and Zapier's processing time.
