Connect Thinkific to SegMetrics

Connect Thinkific to SegMetrics to unlock deeper insights, accurate revenue attribution, and full customer journey tracking. Gain clarity on the KPIs that matter most in your online course and membership funnels.

Note: Thinkific does not have a direct native integration with SegMetrics at this time. This connection is made through Zapier, a third-party automation platform. You will need an active Zapier account to complete this setup.


Step 1: Access Integrations in SegMetrics

  1. Log in to your SegMetrics account.
  2. From your dashboard, click Settings.
  3. Navigate to Integrations.
  4. Locate the Zapier Integration and take note of your SegMetrics API Key, as you will need it when setting up your Zaps.

Step 2: Install Zapier from the Thinkific App Store

  1. Log in to your Thinkific admin panel.
  2. Navigate to the App Store.
  3. Search for and install the Zapier app.
  4. Once installed, authorize the connection between Thinkific and Zapier using your Thinkific credentials.

Note: You will need Site Admin or Site Owner permissions in Thinkific to authorize the integration.


Step 3: Create Your Zaps in Zapier

In Zapier, you will set up one or more Zaps that send Thinkific data into SegMetrics. Each Zap consists of a Trigger (an event in Thinkific) and an Action (sending that data to SegMetrics).

The following Thinkific triggers are available to use:

  1. New Order - fires when a student places an order for a course, community, or bundle.
  2. New Full Enrollment - fires when a student enrolls in the full version of a course.
  3. New Free Preview Enrollment - fires when a student enrolls in the free preview of a course.
  4. Course Completed - fires when a student reaches 100% progress in a course.
  5. New User - fires when a student creates a new account on your Thinkific site.

For each Zap:

  1. Set your chosen Thinkific event as the Trigger.
  2. Set SegMetrics (or a SegMetrics-compatible webhook action) as the Action.
  3. Map the relevant fields such as email, name, and order details to the corresponding SegMetrics fields.
  4. Test the Zap to confirm data is passing through correctly.
  5. Turn the Zap on.

Step 4: Verify Data in SegMetrics

  1. Return to your SegMetrics account.
  2. Check that contacts and order data from Thinkific are appearing correctly in your reports.
  3. If data is not showing up, review your Zap history in Zapier for any errors and confirm your field mappings are correct.

Q: Why is Thinkific connected via Zapier instead of a direct integration?
