Emarsys
Emarsys is a CRM that can be connected directly to SegMetrics. Once connected, SegMetrics imports your Emarsys contacts and uses Emarsys as the single source of truth for your leads and customers. In this article, you will learn how to create an Emarsys API user and connect your Emarsys account to SegMetrics.
Requirements
- An active SegMetrics account
- An Emarsys account with access to Management › Security Settings
- An Emarsys API user with the following permissions enabled:
contact.listfield.listcontact.getdatacontactlist.contact.idscontactlist.contact.get
What Emarsys Brings Into SegMetrics
The Emarsys integration imports your Contacts into SegMetrics. Emarsys acts as the single source of truth for your leads and customers, so contact records in SegMetrics reflect the data stored in Emarsys.
Creating an Emarsys API User
SegMetrics connects to the Emarsys Core API using an API user's Client ID and Client Secret. Create a dedicated API user for SegMetrics:
- Log in to Emarsys and navigate to Management › Security Settings › API Users.
- Create a new API user. Give it a name related to SegMetrics (e.g.,
SegMetrics Integration) so you can identify it later. - Under the API user's permissions, enable the following:
contact.listfield.listcontact.getdatacontactlist.contact.idscontactlist.contact.get
- Copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
Note:
The Client Secret is only shown once. Store it somewhere safe before leaving the page.
Connecting Emarsys to SegMetrics
- Log in to your SegMetrics account and navigate to Settings › Integrations.
- Locate Emarsys in the list of available integrations and select it.
- Paste your Client ID and Client Secret into the matching fields.
- Click Connect to save the integration.
Once connected, SegMetrics begins importing your Emarsys contacts. The initial import can take some time depending on the size of your account.
Emarsys FAQs
I lost my Client Secret. How do I get it back?
Emarsys only shows the Client Secret once, so it can't be retrieved later. Create a new API user (or regenerate the secret for the existing one) in Management › Security Settings › API Users, then update the credentials in SegMetrics.
Why am I getting a permissions error when connecting?
The API user is likely missing one or more required permissions. Confirm that contact.list , field.list , contact.getdata , contactlist.contact.ids and contactlist.contact.get are all enabled, then try connecting again.
Can I use an existing Emarsys API user instead of creating a new one?
Yes, as long as it has all five required permissions. We recommend a dedicated SegMetrics API user so you can manage or revoke SegMetrics' access without affecting other tools.
What data does SegMetrics import from Emarsys?
SegMetrics imports your Emarsys Contacts, including their field data and contact list membership. Emarsys acts as the single source of truth for your leads and customers.
What happens if I delete or disable the API user in Emarsys?
SegMetrics will no longer be able to access your Emarsys account, and contact data will stop syncing. To restore the connection, create a new API user and update the Client ID and Client Secret in SegMetrics.
