Connect ActiveCampaign with SegMetrics

SegMetrics gives ActiveCampaign customers a best-of-class look inside how their marketing is performing: what’s working and what’s wasting marketing dollars.

With SegMetrics & ActiveCampaign, you can get Data Collection from various sources into one single customer record.
You will also have the ability to analyze that data on various levels, filtering by tags, actions, ecommerce records, custom fields, etc.
With that information, you can easily segment that data into emails, you can trigger automations, push into Facebook custom audiences, etc.

Integration Overview

Here's how the ActiveCampaign integration works with SegMetrics' data analysis engine:

SegMetrics takes all the purchases you have in your payment processor and connects them (by email address) to the contacts you have in ActiveCampaign.

And the best part is, you don't need to import the orders or tag people in a special way: they just need to be in your ActiveCampaign account!

How to Connect Payment Information to ActiveCampaign Contacts

If you're using ActiveCampaign’s Deep Data Integration, there is nothing left to do: the payment data is integrated automatically.

But, if you do not have a payment integration with your ActiveCampaign account, you can integrate your payment processor with SegMetrics.

We recommend using whichever payment processor is closer to the checkout (? will fix verbiage once I find out if this info is wanted here)

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're having issues with your ActiveCampaign data, the following items may help you get started! If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at support@segmetrics.io.

Why am I not seeing all my leads in SegMetrics?

ActiveCampaign doesn’t consider a contact to be marketable unless they belong to at least one list in your ActiveCampaign account.
For native ActiveCampaign forms, contacts are added automatically, but for integrations such as Deep Data, Zapier, Calendly and more, new contacts are not added to a list automatically.

In order to fix this, we'll set up an automation to add the contacts, and then add all your existing contacts.

Adding Contacts From 3rd Party Optins (Zapier, Calendly, ClickFunnel, etc)

You'll need to start an automation when a contact opts in

  1. Create a list called "All Subscribers" (if it doesn't exist) to collect all of your contacts
  2. Create a new Automation called "Opt in from Calendly"
  3. In the Automation, set the Contact Created trigger
  4. Create an Add to List action and have it add them to the "All Subscribers" list

Adding Customers From Deep Data (WooCommerce, Shopify, etc)

You'll need to start an automation when a customer makes a purchase

  1. Create a list called "Customers" (or other name) to mark these contacts as customers
  2. Create a list called "All Subscribers" (if it doesn't exist) to collect all of your contacts
  3. Create a new Automation called "Add Customer to List"
  4. In the Automation, set the Makes a purchase trigger
  5. Create an Add to List action and have it add them to the "Customer" list that we just created.
  6. Then create another  Add to List action and have it add them to the "All Subscribers" list

Add Existing Contacts to a List

  1. You will also want to add your existing contacts to your list.
  2. In ActiveCampaign search for all contacts who have made a purchase in the Contacts page
  3. Click the top box to select all
  4. Under Actions, choose Add To List and Choose "All Subscribers"

More information can be found in ActiveCampaign's documentation.

Once you do this, your contacts will be added during the next import.

How can I set up my email links to get click rates from my ActiveCampaign emails?

To do this, add the SubscriberId to your link with "seg_cid=%SUBSCRIBERID%".
Here is what the finished link should look like:  http://example.com/?seg_cid=%SUBSCRIBERID%
That will tell SegMetrics who is visiting the page, even if they're on a different device.
You can find more information on configuring your email links in our Improving Tracking Fidelity Page

Do I need the tracking pixel to get the data found in my ActiveCampaign account?

You do not need to create a Tracking Link for SegMetrics to track website visitors. Tracking Links provide a simple way to manage and monitor links that you use for ads, email broadcasts, or campaigns.

How do I create a report on my client invoices paid and cart sales found in ActiveCampaign?

We use the E-Commerce that comes through ActiveCampaign's "Deep Data Integrations".

If you're looking to use it for more invoice paid clients, using a funnel report might be preferable, as you can set out each step that a client should take through the process (sales call, signup, invoice, payments, etc).
