Creating Custom Dashboards
SegMetrics provides a default analytics dashboard with access to your latest leads, revenue, lead value, and top products. However, you can create and customize multiple dashboards to organize your reporting data and focus on the KPIs that matter most for your business.
Requirements
- An active SegMetrics account
- Existing saved reports (for report-based widgets)
Creating a Dashboard
Follow these steps to create your first custom dashboard:
- Navigate to Dashboards - Click on Dashboards in the left-hand navigation menu
- Add New Dashboard - Click Add Dashboard in the sub-menu at the top of the screen
- Choose Creation Method - Select to build from a Dashboard Template or start from scratch
- Save Dashboard - Click Save Dashboard to create your new dashboard
Understanding Widget Types
Your dashboard can include several types of widgets, each serving different visualization needs:
Report-Based Widgets
- Single Value - Displays a single KPI value from your selected report
- Snapshot - Shows a sparkline and single KPI value (same as Saved Reports snapshots)
- Timeline - Displays a graph showing KPI changes over time
- Table - Shows up to two KPIs in table format, displaying top 5 or 10 rows
Custom Content Widgets
- Custom HTML - Allows you to embed custom HTML content or reports from other systems
Adding Widgets to Your Dashboard
Once you've created a dashboard, you can add widgets to display your key metrics:
- Select Dashboard - Choose the dashboard from the dropdown menu
- Add Widget - Click Add Widget and choose either Report or Custom HTML
- Configure Widget - Complete the following settings:
- Name - Give your widget a descriptive name
- Display Type - Choose from the widget types listed above
- Base Report - Select the saved report that will provide the data
- KPI Value - Choose which metric to display
- Advanced Settings - (Optional) Set custom timeframes and additional filters
- Save Widget - Click Save Widget to add it to your dashboard
Advanced Widget Settings
By default, widgets inherit properties from their base reports and show 30-day rolling data. Enable Advanced Settings to:
- Change timespan from rolling to fixed timeframes
- Add additional filters beyond the base report

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I create multiple dashboards for different purposes?
A. Yes! You can create unlimited custom dashboards to organize different aspects of your business, such as separate dashboards for sales metrics, marketing performance, or client reporting.
Q. What's the difference between dashboard templates and building from scratch?
A. Dashboard templates provide pre-configured widgets for common use cases, saving you setup time. Building from scratch gives you complete control over which widgets and metrics to include.
Q. Can I use the same report for multiple widgets?
A. Absolutely! You can create multiple widgets from a single base report by using different KPI values, display types, or additional filters in the Advanced Settings.
Q. Why would I use individual widget date ranges instead of global dates?
A. Individual date ranges are useful when you want to compare different time periods on the same dashboard, such as showing current month revenue alongside last quarter's performance trends.
